Forklifts are an important machinery in any industry/work place where large objects must be shifted regularly from place to place. Forklifts are an indispensable equipment in most groceries’ stores, warehouses, supermarkets, etc. When getting a forklift many are unsure of the fuel type for the forklift which suits them the best. The three main types of forklift fuel types are electric, diesel and propane of which each have their advantages and disadvantages.
These forklifts run on diesel fuels and are some of the largest types of forklift, ideal to be used for outdoor purposes. Some of the main advantages when using a diesel forklift are that it is less expensive than an electric forklift. Even the fuel price of diesel is cheaper when compared to propane fuel and this type of forklift can produce greater torque hence can lift heavier loads, easily climb steep ramps and can rapidly accelerate. Of all the three types of forklifts, diesel forklift has the longest lifespan and is easy to maintain.
Using propane as their fuel, these forklifts can be comfortably used both indoors and outdoors. These forklifts come in the middle of diesel and electric forklifts with respect to their size and are less expensive than both diesel and electric forklifts. Propane forklifts have the greatest fuel efficiency as they run the longest for a given amount of fuel. A single tank of fuel can make them last for an entire shift, also refuelling of the propane forklift is relatively easy as one just has to switch the fuel tanks. Although the torque of propane forklifts is not as great as diesel fuel forklifts, they are better when compared to electric forklifts.
These forklifts run purely on rechargeable batteries instead of fuel tanks. They have the smallest build for a forklift and are ideal for use indoors. Because of the rechargeable batteries in electric forklifts, these do not cost as much as refuelling of propane or diesel forklifts. These forklifts produce the lowest noise of all the three types of forklifts because of the absence of fuel combustion. They are more compact and hence much easier to maneuver in small and enclosed places. As they run on electricity these forklifts are highly environmentally friendly.
